Larry Dale Cox
June 10th, 1950 - January 19th, 2017
Larry Dale Cox, 66, was welcomed into the arms of Our Lord Thursday January 19, 2017. Larry passed peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in West Covina California in June of 1950, to Violet Mae and Estol Dale Cox. The youngest of three, Larry was adored and protected by his older sisters, Dee Smith and Diana Mustard. The family relocated to Washington State in 1967 where Larry assisted his parents for a short time in running Pecks Drive Grocery in Everett, WA. After successfully completing training at the Law Enforcement Academy, he joined the Everett Police Force in 1971 on his 21 st birthday. After 3 years of service with Everett, he transferred to the Mukilteo Police Force where he served an additional 12 years before retiring in 1986. Larry was always proud of the time he spent serving his community and the countless people he helped. He would fondly recall all of his fellow Patrolmen and get a twinkle in his eye reliving the memories.Larry met his wife Kathy at the Stock Market Caf in 1976 where he would regularly drop in for lunch. Kathy caught Larrys eye with her feisty attitude, mischievous smile, and long black hair. After several months of dating he proposed on her birthday and they were married in a private ceremony on October 25 th 1977. They celebrated their 39 th Wedding Anniversary this last year. Those who knew Larry would describe him as one of the kindest people in the world. Larry would never turn his back on anyone in need and would often put the needs of others before his own. He had a wonderful laugh, infectious smile, loved to play the occasional practical joke, and remained a kid at heart to the very end. Larry was fiercely protective of his two daughters, Saundra and Viana, of whom he was deeply proud of.In recent years, Larry was thrilled to become a Grandfather. He would spend countless afternoons with his Grandsons Zachary and Benjamin. The three would have Nerf battles, set up army men, build Legos, race cars, stay up late, and build forts. Three years ago Larry welcomed two additional Grandchildren; a Granddaughter, Danielle and a Grandson, Johnathan; when daughter Viana fell in love with her Husband Reuben. Even though their bond was new their time together was priceless and full of wonderful memories.Larry is survived by his Wife Kathy Cox. Daughters Saundra Mulkey and Viana Cox-Clemons. Sons-In-Law William Mulkey and Reuben Clemons. Grandchildren Zachary Mulkey, Benjamin Mulkey, Danielle Clemons, and Johnathan Clemons. Sisters Dee Smith and Diana Mustard. And many, many Nieces and Nephews.Larry, the Lord called you from this Earth too soon. We know that you have been reunited with loved ones long lost and are celebrating in Heaven. We love and miss you deeply.Private services will be held for Family and Friends.
