Doris Marie Merriman Adams of Wilmore Kentucky passed on to her heavenly home on Mother’s Day, May 12 2019. Her last days were spent surrounded in love by her family and friends at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Doris was retired after 40 years from Asbury University where she served as the director of the college post office. She was an honorary graduate of Asbury College Class of 1986. She served the Jessamine County community as an emergency medical technician and one of the founding members of the Jessamine County Rescue Squad and she was a member of the High Bridge Church of the Nazarene. Doris was preceded in death by her parents George and Easter Arrowood Merriman and 8 siblings. She leaves behind 3 sibling, Greenberry and Bertha Merriman and Patricia Cheek, her 4 Children Melissa (Robert) Houp, Georgia (Martin) Perkins, Rebecca (John) Schaefer and Johnathan (Tracy Eckler-Adams) all of Jessamine County, KY and the father of her children Larry Adams. She has 21 Grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda), Sydney and Robert (Trinity) Perkins, Amanda (Andrew) Wood, Christina (Anthony) Ruggiero, Berry Neal (Anna) and Jared Houp, Amber and Kelsie Adams, John Henry and Jacob Schaefer, Joseph Casteel, David (Tanika) Lay and Wayne (Ashley) Eckler. 10 great grandchildren Gunnar and Lillian Ruggiero, Caleb Wood, Paisley and Xaria Perkins, Landon and Peyton Eckler and Rylan Lay, Axton and Ace Perkins. She also had many other family members, hundreds of honorary Asbury children, co-workers and care givers that loved and cherished her. Her Family will receive visitors for a celebration of her life at Clark Legacy Center 601 East Brannon Road in Nicholasville Thursday May 16 from 5pm-8pm and Funeral Service will be held Friday May 17 at 11am with burial to follow at the Wilmore Cemetery. Her Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Aaron, Robert, Joseph, John Henry, Jacob, Berry Neal, David, Jared, Wayne, Cole, Anthony and Andrew. She will be memorialized by her dear friend Pastor Stu Smith and Dr. Glen Spann. In Lieu of Flowers you may send gifts in her name to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Jessamine County Animal Shelter.
