Dylan Fowler Reaves, 27, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019. Dylan was born in Cincinnati, OH, July 31, 1991 to Michael Shawn and Felicia Fowler Reaves of Lawrenceburg, KY. In addition to his parents, Dylan is survived by his maternal grandmother, Diana June Fowler, also of Lawrenceburg, more than 60 aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends who were family to him. A National Merit Scholar, Dylan graduated from Anderson Co. HS, then Denison University, with a major in Religion and minors in Philosophy and Sociology, also studying abroad at Trinity College, Dublin, IRE. He was a brilliant thinker with the soul of a philosopher, the compassion of a great humanitarian, and the spirit of a world traveler. Dylan worked at UPS as a Technical Publications Editor and edited collegiate and professional books and articles for professors who spoke English as a second language. “Bard” as he was known to many, was a remarkably talented writer, actor and musician (piano, trombone, fiddle, harmonica). He was a voracious reader, who loved theatre, hiking, playing video games and board games, going on “milkshake drives,” and spending time with his friends. Dylan loved to travel and relished the opportunity to meet people from new cultures and to share new experiences. As a youth he traveled to Canada with family, and to Japan with a middle school student exchange program (where he was repeatedly called, “Blonde Harry Potter”). While in Dublin (at Trinity) he also “couch-surfed” to Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and his favorite, Denmark. He once took a road trip from Kentucky to California, with non-linear stops in New Orleans, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Las Vegas and more. As an actor, Dylan performed throughout elementary, middle and high school as well as with Bluegrass Theatre Guild (It Happened in Hamlin, Peter Pan, Fruitcakes), Anderson Co. Community Theatre (Our Town, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Beauty and the Beast, Tiptoe Through the Tombstones, and directing Riding Out the Storm), Woodford Theatre (The Christmas Foundling), and throughout his tenure at Denison University (The Drowsy Chaperone, Taming of the Shrew, Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, Middletown). Dylan is remembered by family and friends for his lightning-fast intellect, genuine compassion for others, embracing people for who they are, warm and enveloping hugs, informed thinking about world religions and societal beliefs, folktales and storytelling, being a loyal and dedicated friend, and most especially, his childlike wonder and joy at everything from new scientific discoveries to growing vegetables in his own backyard. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, Dylan’s family asks that you consider making a donation to Refuge Recovery of Louisville, A Buddhist inspired path to recovery from addiction. https://refugerecovery.org A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd in Frankfort. There will be a time of sharing in the tradition of an Irish Wake at 4:00pm. ClarkLegacyCenter.com
