Thelma Louise Wilkinson Turner transitioned peacefully at her daughter’s home in Ashburn, Virginia August 25, 2019. She was the last surviving child born in Mt Salem, Kentucky to Addison Wilkinson and Sadie Patton Wilkinson who preceded her in death, as well as her sister, Ann Lou Wilkinson Alcorn and brothers, Addison Wilkinson and Bobby Wilkinson. Thelma dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse and a professional in the field of alcoholism rehabilitation and in her role for the prevention of substance abuse at the Commonwealth of Kentucky Human Resources, from which she retired. Outside her career, she was no less committed to serving her community of loved ones, family, and friends who became like family. She is survived by her only birth child, daughter Regina Turner, Auburn, Virginia; Claude (Lisa), Margaret “Chunky” Scott-Leach, and Elizabeth “Liz” Scott Jackson of Lexington, Kentucky who were her children by choice; a host nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins. Whom she loved as if they were her own children. A Celebration of Thelma’s Life will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. A Gathering of Family and Friends will follow until 2:30pm.
