Shawn Duane Long Sunrise November 25, 1972 Sunset January 14, 2021 Shawn grew up in Harlan, KY. He went to Harlan Elementary, Middle and graduated from Harlan High School. Shawn was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, George and Georgia Long. He is survived by his loving mother, Blanche Long (Charles) Edwards; brothers, Brannon (Candice) Long, William (Crystal) Long; aunts, Lanora Faye Long, Jacqueline (Rev. Thomas) Thomas; uncles, Harvey Long, and John Long. Also surviving are his cousins, Elizabeth Long, Erik Thomas, Carlos Long, Charlene Mitchell, Denise (James) Cunningham, Edward (Trinty) Long; nieces, Briya Campbell, Michaela Litsey, Kerrigan Brown; nephews, Brice Long, Christopher Long, Tristian Long, Tyler Long; and special friends, Shantrell Huffman and Ryan (Dallas) Arakaki. Shawn had such a great sense of humor, he never met a stranger. He was an avid Wildcat fan. He loved education and teaching. His formal education began at Tennesse State University in Nashville, TN for his Bachelor and Master's Degree in Business Administrations and Hotel Management. He received his Doctorate from the University of Kentucky in Communications. He began his professional career at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he taught for 20 years. Shawn was the first black Dean in the history Kennesaw State University. Please see attached article to the left for more on Dr. Shawn Long. A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing with his aunt Lanora Faye Long and Shantrell Huffman presiding.
