Robert Johnson Stokes, 75, died Friday, May 20, 2021, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on February 16, 1946 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late S.J. Stokes, Jr. and Jean Walker Stokes. He was preceded in death by both parents and his paternal grandparents, S.J. and Hannah Stokes and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Glorenna Walker. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from IBM. He is survived by his son, Robert J. Stokes, Jr. (Pamela), grandchildren Wes and Ella Stokes, sister Janet Stokes and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Little Bit. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Higdon, Lucia Higdon Parker, Denise Buban, Jack Hall, Bill Neal, Bill McCaw and Chesley Jaracz,. He was a proud founding member of the South Elkhorn Dirtynecks. Bob had an infatuation and appreciation of older cars and won multiple awards for show car restorations. A gathering of family and friends will be held 5pm-8pm Monday, May 24, 2021, at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Road, Nicholasville, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or your charity of choice. See clarklegacycenter.com.
