Rickey Joe Bastin

Rickey Joe Bastin of Nicholasville, passed away in the early morning hours of June 23, 2021 at his home. He was surrounded by his son, daughter, and their spouses, as well as his sister-in-law and nephew. Rickey was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Stephanie Brown Bastin, of Nicholasville, a woman whom he loved and cherished dearly. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Myrtle Bastin, both of Nicholasville. Rickey is survived by his two children, Matthew Bastin (Rebekah), of Louisville, and Katie Bastin Knight (J.D.), of Harrodsburg, and his beautiful granddaughter, Ellie Mae Knight. Rickey served over 20 years in law enforcement, both at the University of Kentucky Police Department and Lexington Metro Police Department. After retiring from law enforcement, Rickey served many years at the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council as a polygraph examiner and program coordinator. Visitation for Rickey will occur at 10:00 a.m., with services to follow at 12:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Clark Legacy Center, 601 East Brannon Rd. in Nicholasville. In lieu of flowers, Rickey's family asks that donations be made in his honor to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 1733 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY (Bluegrass Care Navigators (bgcarenav.org).
