Alice Marie Archer Jones
April 24th, 1930 - August 14th, 2021
Alice Marie Archer Jones, age 91, died on August 14, 2021. She was born in Hopkinsville, KY to Jacob Archer and Laura Frances Lemmons Archer. She graduated from Hopkinsville High School, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Murray State University and did graduate work at Eastern Kentucky University. Her life's passion was teaching, and she taught in Jessamine and Fayette Counties and the Lexington School. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and was a founding member of the local Warm Up America! chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Rogers, Verley Archer, and Louise Aho and brothers Edwin Archer, Whitman Archer and Forrest Archer. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Lynne Jones, her son, Kenneth (Pamela) Thomas Jones, grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth Jones, Laura (Christian) Jones Henry, Jacob Thomas Jones, Jonathan Forrest Jones, Emma Marie Jones, Melissa Lynne Jones, great-granddaughter Selah Jane Henry, sister Joan (Calvin) Archer Gibson, many beloved nieces and nephews and a host of lifelong friends. A gathering for family and friends will be held at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, on Saturday, October 16, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., with a special remembrance at 3:00 p.m. A family burial is planned at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, TN. Contributions are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators (formerly Hospice of the Bluegrass.)
