All-States Cremation - Wheat Ridge
Anthony Monteiro
October 4th, 1952 - June 10th, 2019
Anthony Gene Monteiro, known to his friends and family as Tony, passed away at age 66 in his home in Denver, CO on June 10th after a long illness. He was born to Edward and Bernice Monteiro in Cambridge, MA in 1952 where he spent his childhood and young adulthood. He grew up with a love of tinkering with mechanics, and especially loved working on muscle cars. He was also naturally driven, with a strong work ethic, beginning his full time career in the 8th grade working at a local garage after school. In 1982, his drive for success and desire to leave the city led him to Highland Lake in Washington, NH where he spent the majority of his life with his wife and business partner, Kathy Bigwood and their blended family. For over 30 years, they owned and operated the Village Discount Center in Hillsboro where they became a fixture in the local community. During that time, fishermen from all over relied on Tony for providing reels, rods, tackle, and his sound advice on where to fish. Perhaps most importantly, he could always be relied upon for a good laugh by everyone who came into the store. In 2016, Tony and Kathy retired to Denver, CO where his humor and wit was embraced by his new community. He especially loved getting out on the Pickleball court with his many new friends where he was developing a fierce serve which was difficult for his opponents to return. Throughout his entire life, Tony was most dedicated to his family. His happiest times were spent among his loved ones. This includes his daughter Jessica Loalbo and her two children, Jonathan and Emma Loalbo; his son Jamie and daughter in-law Kathy and their three children, Jamison, Gabriella and Curtis Monteiro; his stepdaughter Barbara Musick, and his step-son, Bobby Bigwood, all of whom he was survived by. Tony will always be remembered as the fun-loving, hard-working, generous, and proud man he was. There are no formal services planned, and all the family asks is that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Tony cared very deeply for displaced dogs and cats, so in lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the Monadnock Humane Society would be deeply appreciated.
