Leonie Grimsby

Born 1913 in Alsace, France to Pierre and Lina Bauer, Leonie was one of two children to immigrate to the United States. At the age of sixteen she left behind her parents and eleven siblings to set sail across the world. Seattle was her destination, and is where she spent the rest of her life cultivating a home and leaving a legacy of family, friends and love. In 1934 Leonie married Abraham Grimsby, a Norwegian halibut fisherman, and they spent fifty-five beautiful years married, together raising six children. Leonie is preceded in death by her husband Abraham Grimsby and her son Arthur Leon. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Kartes (Merlin), son Arthur Lloyd (Janice), son Stephen (Austrid), son David (Sherron), son Kenneth, and daughter Vicki (Dean), eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Leonie spent her life providing for the ones she loved; delicious foods, beautiful flowers and a welcoming home for all to enjoy.
