Ina Marie Henry
March 19th, 1920 - October 10th, 2009
Ina Marie Henry, 89 years a woman of steadfast love to her husband and family and devotion to her faith departed to rosier gardens on October 10th, 2009. Ina, Babe of John and Mabel Leonard was born in Seattle on March 20th, 1920. She loved being part of a family of six and stayed close through the years to her three siblings: Grace, Irene, and Bill, all now departed. roud Ballard Beaver, Class of 1938, she graduated salutatorian and continued to celebrate annually as she and others in her class transitioned into Golden Beavers. As a young woman, her war efforts led her to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary where she perfected her exacting secret work. Later, through her older sister, Irene and brother-in-law Alonzo, she met the love of her life, Jim Henry. Their love blossomed into marriage in 1946 and continued strong through the joys and tribulations of raising five children: Kathy, Vince, Marian, Tom, and Peg. Jim and Ina crisscrossed the country several times for work-related moves until they happily returned to their roots in the Pacific Northwest for a long retirement in Edmonds, Washington. While Jim and Inas happiness had roots in their Catholic faith they established literal roots in their beautiful and bountiful flower and vegetable gardens. From their five children, they were blessed with thirteen wonderful grandchildren: Jamie, Theresa, Monica (Kathy); Marilynn, Dan, Pete (Vince); Connor, Teigan, Brynne (Tom); and Madeline, Charlotte, Joseph, and Nicholas (Peg). Nothing made Mom happier than a houseful of children and extended family. Special extended family members: Bob Hixon, Anita Armour, Dan Courtice, Ray McCoy, Peter Court, Dulce Henry, Ron and Micky Mendoca, Marge Robertson, Jack and Frances Cawley, George Dent, Alonzo Robertson, Rosemary Leonard, Jeannie and Bill Hassenzahl have been enriched by knowing the gentle nature of Ina. Inas children have been touched by the very special bond between Ina and son-in-law Brent Kane and admire the love and loyalty Brent has shown toward Ina over the last 25 years. Thank you for your sweet caring to our mother, Brent. For many years, Ina met with her very special group of friends dubbed The Prayer Ladies. Though meetings with Claire, Marge, and Delores were more characterized by laughter than praying, these ladies had a strong spiritual bond and grew in faith together over many years. Ina had tremendous love toward animals and her loves have included Henry VIII, Foxy, Nanook, Akiak, Fritz and Roscoe. Ina appreciated each act of kindness and every smile given from the staff at Faerland Terrace where she lived the last three years of her life. The family would like to thank the very special team who treated Mom as if she were their own mother at the Memory Care Unit at Faerland, in particular, Margaret. The Hospice nurses from Swedish Home Care Services provided expert guidance in easing Moms way to the other side over the last two months. Thank you Deborah, Ron, Barb, Veneta, and BJ. Mark your calendars for next Spring and on March 20th, the anniversary of the birth of our familys peacemaker, plant a rose in memory of one very gentle and loving soul, Ina Marie Henry.
