Versailles - Carolyn Mason Sparks Gentry went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2022. She was the daughter of David Malcolm Sparks and Helen Mason Sparks. Carolyn was born in Lexington KY on November 15, 1941. She attended PIcadome Elementary and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1959. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation she taught for one year at Deep Springs Elementary before marrying and moving to Auburn, Alabama where she taught in the head start program in Phoenix City, Alabama. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Michael Gentry, a daughter, Kathryn Curnutte Farmer (Chris) of Lexington, a son, Michael Gentry, Jr. (Allison), of Versailles, four grandchildren – Cy Curnutte, Lexington, Trey Gentry (Brittany), Charleston, SC, Rachael Curnutte, Lexington and Grady Gentry, Nashville and three great grandchildren- Jackson, Emerson and Lucy Gentry. Carolyn was very involved in the Lafayette Class of ’59 activities and lunched monthly with a group of ladies from that class. She loved to play bridge weekly and have friends over to swim during the summer months. Carolyn was a talented seamstress and enjoyed creating needlepoint, knitting, and all types of crafting. Carolyn was very active with her family and loved her 2 dogs, Lily and Nutmeg, and was especially fond of her cat Marmalade. As a child, Carolyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and at her death was a member of First Christian Church of Versailles. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Woodford Humane Society. Visitation will be 11am Monday February 7th, 2022 at the First Christian Church, Versailles KY. Memorial service to follow at 1pm. www.clarklegacycenter.com
