Walter “Walt” Morgan was born on March 8th, 1959 in Durango, Colorado. He was the third of five children and the first son of Alyce Louise (Large) and Robert “Bob” Morgan. On August 29th, 2015 Walt passed away in Denver, CO at 56 years old. After attending schools in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska, Walt graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1977. He married Kathie Ann Pigg in 1981 and they later had three children. Walt enjoyed coaching soccer, and most of his weekends were spent on the field either coaching, refereeing, or watching his children play soccer. Walt and Kathie moved to Parker, CO in 1999, and they later divorced after 19 years of marriage. After graduating from GJHS, Walt began his baking career at Holsum Bread in Grand Junction. He throughly enjoyed being a baker, and he later worked for several large baking companies in the Denver area including Wonder/Hostess Bakery, King Soopers, and Silver State Foods. Over the years, he held various supervisory and management positions. Walt loved watching, attending, and listening to sporting events. He was a dedicated lifetime fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles (now St. Louis) Rams. He was also a supporter of the Colorado Buffaloes. Walter Morgan was preceded in death by an infant brother, his grandparents, and his mother Alyce (Large) Davis who passed away on May 21st, 2015. He is survived by his father, Robert “Bob” Morgan of Lusk, Wyoming; three sisters: Dana (Terry) Williams of Lusk, WY, Wanda Allbright of Leadville, CO, and Leslie Morgan of Denver, CO; numerous nieces and nephews; a daughter, Lyndsie (Wes) Riggs of Littleton, CO; two sons, Ryan Morgan and Justin Morgan of Parker, CO; and his beloved granddaughters: Rylie Hollenbeck and Harper Riggs. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Walter to the Denver ARC Salvation Army, 4751 Broadway, Denver CO 80216.
