Jason Daniel Michaelson
November 8th, 1973 - December 11th, 2017
Jason Michaelson passed away peacefully on December 11, 2017. He was born on November 8th 1973 to Brian and the late, Mary Michaelson. Jason grew up in Bellingham where he played several sports and discovered his love of the sea. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the Sea Scouts and was hooked after attending his very first meeting. He thoroughly enjoyed everything about the program. He loved being on the water eventually made his living working at sea over the years. Although he enjoyed working on different types of boats in Alaska, he gave it up to spend more time with his growing family. Jason loved baseball from an early age. When he was a teenager, he acquired his umpire license to make money doing something he loved, umpiring local softball games. He passed on his love of the game to his children and coached many of their baseball teams. Even after he quit coaching, he rarely missed a game and volunteered frequently, helping out wherever necessary. He was a Seattle Mariner ticket holder. He loved taking his family to see the games, especially if it was a special theme night at the ball park. Jason met his future wife, Shauna, in 1996. On Father’s Day in 2001, he received the best Father’s Day gift ever. His son, Jakob, was born and anyone who knew Jason could tell you that it was almost as if Jason was reborn that day. He was thrilled to be a father and took what he considered his most important job very seriously. He and Shauna received a double blessing four years later when their twins Hunter and Erin were born. He felt that his family was complete, and he made it his mission to see to it that they were happy and healthy. He was passionate about getting the kids involved in sports. Whether it was football, baseball, basketball, volleyball or golf, he and Shauna made it happen. They drove countless miles to practices, games and tournaments. They also enjoyed many family vacations to sunny destinations over the years. (Golf is so much better in the desert!) In addition to a large extended family that meant the world to Jason, he is survived by his wife, Shauna, sons Jakob and Hunter, daughter Erin, Dad Brian (Stacie) and his Grandma Carol. A funeral service will be held at Edgewood Baptist Church (20406 76th Ave. W Edmonds, WA 98026) on December 23rd at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Diabetes Association, your local youth sports organization, or your local church
