A Beautiful Life in Every WayLucy M. Johnson went peacefully to be with the Lord at age 94, surrounded by her loving family, and in the Edmonds home she and her husband Ray built in 1959. Lucy was born in Seattle, Washington to Italian immigrants, Lebert and Anna Recchio. One of five siblings, Lucy grew up in the Mt. Baker area of Seattle and graduated from Franklin High School. At the beginning of World War II, Lucy went to work for Boeing in the B-17 blueprint department. It was in that blueprint department where she met Ray Johnson just before he left to serve in the Merchant Marines for the duration of the war. Upon his return from the war, Ray rejoined Boeing and Lucy was still there. They were married on September 27, 1947 and had 62 wonderful years of marriage before Ray passed away on October 10, 2009. Ray & Lucy worked together in the grocery business, first owning Market Street Grocery in Ballard and later as partners in Kenmore IGA. They raised four sons; Lucy's family and strong faith in Jesus Christ meant everything to her. Lucy loved everybody and everybody loved her. Her joyful spirit and selfless nature combined with her wonderful sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her. Lucy had many close personal friendships that she highly valued. She is deeply, deeply missed by a family she loved amazingly well!Lucy is survived by her four sons and their wives: David (Teddye), Randy (Debbie), Dean (Karen), Brian (Beverly), her nine grandchildren: Andee (Joel), Ben (Heidi), Ryan (Breanne), Troy, Chris, Jake, Karli (Zack), Brandon, Brock, and her 10 great-grandchildren: Mason, Axel, Ethan, Lucy, Kailey, Luke, Quinn, Brody, Tennyson, and Clinton as well as her two sisters: Lena and Hilda (Fran) in addition to a beautiful extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Lebert & Anna, her husband Ray, her brother Danny, and her sister Nickie.A Memorial Celebration of Lucy's life will be held at Holy Rosary Parish, 630 - 7th Ave. N in Edmonds, Washington on Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00 am.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to World Vision. www.worldvision.org.
