Corey Jerald Grant
June 9th, 1971 - April 19th, 2018
Corey Jerald Grant passed away on April 19, 2018, from complications of Multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer. Corey was born on June 9, 1971, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the youngest of three sons. Corey grew up in a loving family, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he attended school, graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1989. He attended North Idaho College, then earned his BA from Bethany University in Scotts Valley, CA, in 1994, on a music scholarship. Corey returned to Coeur d’Alene after college where he worked for Huntwood Industries. Corey attended Coeur d’Alene First Assembly of God throughout his childhood, teen years and young adulthood, and was very involved in youth leadership and in Royal Rangers, a boy-scout-type program, earning the Gold Medal of Achievement, equal to the Boy Scout’s Eagle Scout Award. He went on to be a Senior Commander in Royal Rangers as an adult. He loved the various activities of Royal Rangers, from camping to scripture memorization to pinewood derby. Corey had a heart for missions and made several short-term missions trips to Uganda, where his cousins were missionaries. In 2004, Corey met and fell in love with Mindy Souza, from Lodi, CA. They married in September of that year and spent nearly 10 years in Lodi. They were blessed with two beautiful children: Jayden Cole Grant, age 11, and Abbie Kay Grant, age 9. They moved to Lake Stevens, WA, in 2013, when Corey became a financial advisor for Edward Jones Investments. Their family has attended and been very involved in Bethany Christian Assembly in Everett, WA. Corey is survived by his wife, Mindy; son, Jayden; daughter, Abbie; parents, Art and Margie Grant; brothers Dennis (Annette) Grant and Perry (Kathy) Grant; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many, many friends in Washington, Idaho, Montana and California. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Carl “Toddy” and Ruth Grant and maternal grandparents, Burt Parnell and Mary Nordby. Corey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend. He loved to be with people, and always had a smile and an uplifting word. He loved basketball, fishing, barbecuing, and generally having a good time. Mostly, he loved his family and his Lord Jesus Christ. Even in illness, Corey made a huge impact on everyone around him. He will be dearly missed. There will be a celebration of life on Tuesday, April 24, at Bethany Christian Assembly, 2715 Everett Ave., Everett, WA, at 1:00 p.m. There will be a burial service in Post Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, April 28, at 11:00 a.m., and a celebration of life at First Assembly of God, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Rangers program of BCA, 2715 Everett Ave., Everett, WA 98201; and to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, 825 Eastlake Avenue E., Seattle, WA 98109. We offer our deep and heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff at Providence Hospital in Everett, and to the team at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. We will forever carry Corey’s memory in our hearts and look forward to the day we are reunited in Heaven. “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” John 17:3.
