Byron Gardner Simpson
August 17th, 1954 - March 29th, 2023
Byron Gardner Simpson, 68, husband of Diana (Anderson) Simpson, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born August 17, 1954 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late William Cyril Simpson, Jr. and Betty Reed Simpson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Byron Gardner (B.G) Simpson II (Jenny), two grandchildren, Braedyn and Jazmin, one sister, Cissy Blevins (“Yogi”), and two brothers John (Linda) and Stanley (Wendy). He was preceded in death by brother William Cyril III. After leaving Ashland, he resided in and enjoyed the mountains of Colorado followed by a 25 year residency in South Florida. He and Diana returned to Lexington in 2009 to be close to their son and grandchildren. Byron was a lifelong motorcycle and car enthusiast, talented musician, loyal friend and church member. He will be remembered as a warm, caring, loving man and devoted husband, father and brother. Byron will be missed by countless friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 29th from 1-4 pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. A celebration of life service will commence at 2pm. As a 16 year cancer survivor and kidney transplant recipient, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Byron to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
