Brother Forrest W. Moore, affectionately known as Bill, in his early years was born in Grand Bayou, Louisiana on January 9, 1947 to Wade Moore and Vassie Kessee Shallowhorn. Growing up in the church, Bill confessed his love for Christ and in 1953 was baptized at Old Mary Madgalene Baptist Church in Harmon, Louisiana. Since that day until his passing on June 19, 2018, Bill remained faithful to the Lord. At the age of 17, Bill moved out west to Los Angeles to live with his Aunt BeeBee and Uncle “Big Brother” Jeff in pursuit of new opportunities. During this time he married Vivian Strong and had his first daughter, Sheyron, and worked for Douglas Aircraft on the airplane assembly line. While at Douglas, after being assigned to work on the bomb production line, he walked off of his job in protest against the Vietnam War. His passion for peace and human rights lead to him homesteading 308 acres in Dillard, Oregon where he and his wife Patty Schneider had three additional children; Arika, Dianna, and Cochise. Throughout this period in his life, Bill learned how to log which lead to a passion of horse logging and work in forestry. After moving to Seattle, Washington in the late 1990’s Bill, now known as Forrest, obtained multiple welding certifications which he utilized as the lead welder at a small Seattle manufacturing company. During the week, he woke up at 3:30 am to spend time in the Word, ministered to the homeless on Sundays, grew a garden, worked his passion as an arborist taking select jobs, loved his family, and ultimately lived every moment of his life in service to the Lord. Forrest is survived by his four children; daughter Sheyron and granddaughter, Anaya of Long Beach, CA; daughter Arika and son-in-law Matthew Patneaude of Bothell, WA; grandchildren Jasper, Kai, and Ezekiel; daughter Dianna Moore and grandson, Malik of Los Angeles, CA; son Cochise and grandchildren, Soriya, Yerusalam, Menelik, Yohanna, and Xiaolon Forrest; spiritual daughters Jennifer Beauchamp, Meng Zhao, and grandson Tre; Sisters Rebekah Davis of Shreveport, LA, and Sandra Gene Cole of Baton Rouge, LA. Aunts Baasha Kessee Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, and Jean Ardeson of Houston, TX, Uncle Abe Kessee, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, street ministry partners, co-workers and loved ones. Forrest was a father, uncle, brother, and friend to many who will also miss his love, wisdom, and his living example of walking with The Lord.
