Norton "William Byron" Nelson

Norton Nelson, born William Byron (Bill) Nelson, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2016 after a long illness. Norton was born to parents Joan and Joseph Nelson on October 17, 1947, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. After attending the University of Northern Colorado, he lived in Greeley for the remainder of his life and worked as a counselor for individuals with substance abuse problems. He loved woodworking and gardening, and will be remembered for his intelligence and his quirky sense of humor. Norton is survived by his daughter Maja Nelson and granddaughters Tatum and Tulsi (Bremerton, WA); his parents Joan and Joe Nelson (Wheat Ridge); his sisters Mary Anne (Manuel Molles; La Veta, CO) and Lori (David Thom; Stanford, CA); and brothers Joe (Joy; Phoenix, AZ), Barry (Michelle; Denver), David (Kathy; Castle Rock), and Steve (Laura; Littleton). The family would especially like to thank Norton’s close friend, Marc Ringel, for his enduring friendship and kindness, as well as Agape Hospice and Cottonwood Care Center, for the superb care they provided in the last weeks of Norton’s life.
