Jacqueline Annette Morris was born on December 25, 1952 in Oakland, CA to parents Nawana Annette Morris and Samuel Jacob Morris, Jr. She was a celebrated high school student, earning the Teen of the Year Award in 1971. As a high school senior, she was nominated and selected as a representative to attend Girls State, a national leadership conference. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California Los Angeles and then moved to Seattle, WA. She practiced briefly as a psychometrist in Seattle, WA, then, following in the footsteps of the Morris Family, she started a career in real estate that would last for more than 30 years. Her bubbly personality made her well suited for real estate; she made friends and connections throughout the city of Seattle. She married and later divorced Robert Treder; together they had a daughter, Kelly. She was a devoted mother to her only daughter, Kelly, and her loving support and guidance was instrumental to her daughter’s accomplishments. They were a pair that did everything together while Kelly was growing up. Over the years, they traveled to Hawaii, worked Jacqueline’s real estate open houses, played tennis, and shopped garage sales. They shared a closeness that deepened through Kelly’s adult years. Jacqueline exuded love and pride for her daughter. Jacqueline’s passion was tennis. She learned to play tennis as an adult, and grew into a skillful player and instructor. Jacqueline could always be found on the tennis court. Jacqueline volunteered as an assistant coach for Kelly’s high school tennis team and also taught private lessons. She played many tournaments and at one point held a seventh-place ranking for singles in her age group and region. She was the Assistant Coach for the Garfield High School tennis team for eight years, coaching them to multiple state titles. She loved coaching the Garfield Bulldogs, and felt a strong commitment to the students. Jacqueline was also gifted with a beautiful singing voice. She sang in the church choir at St. Joseph’s and performed a well-remembered annual solo. She shared her love of music with her partner of six years, Timothy Lewis. She inspired Timothy to write multiple songs about their love. They purchased Timothy’s childhood home in Lynnwood in 2014. Together, they gave a magical performance at the wedding of Jacqueline’s daughter Kelly to Basant Pangeni in September 2018. Jacqueline was vibrant and joyful. Her laughter lifted a room. She was a collector of wines and enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family. She hosted countless parties and gatherings. She could connect with anyone she encountered and always left a lasting impression. She radiated light and positivity. She was gracious, even in the face of acrimony or obstacle. In September 2018, she was diagnosed with advanced cancer. On October 11, 2018 she passed away at home. Her memory lives on in her daughter, Dr. Kelly Treder Pangeni and her husband Basant Pangeni, in her adoring partner, Timothy C. Lewis, and in her loving mother, Nawana Annette Morris. She is remembered with love by her eldest brother Marvin Morris and wife Denise Morris, sister Phyllis Morris, second brother Michael Morris, and youngest brother William (Bill) Morris and wife Cathy Morris. She is preceded in death by her father Samuel J. Morris, Jr. She will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life memorial reception will be held at the Wagner Education Center at the Center for Wooden Boats on Saturday October 27th at 7:30pm. Desserts and refreshments will be served. Please dress as you feel appropriate, however do not feel compelled to wear black.
