Bonnie Lou Sears

Bonnie L. Sears, daughter of Walter and Della Gobler was born in Portland, Oregon on February 23, 1934. She passed away peacefully on January 20, 2019 at Swedish Edmonds hospital, where she was treated with kindness and in honor of her wishes. Bonnie united in marriage with the love of her life Gene L. Sears on July 26, 1952 and they moved immediately to Seattle from Portland, once married. They spent 2 years in Seattle before moving into their home in Edmonds where they spent many wonderful years. When Gene retired, they moved permanently to Whidbey Island and relished beach living for many more years leading up to the loss of Bonnie’s dear “Gene-O” to cancer in 2009. Bonnie spent that following year holding down the helm of their lovely beach home. In time she realized it was time to join the community again and moved to assisted living in Freeland at Maple Ridge. After two years she moved to the Lynnwood area to be closer to her children. Bonnie spent significant time volunteering for charities throughout her life. She volunteered as a young woman in Portland in the Bethel organization of Jobs daughters, and once in WA state she was a founder of the Sno-Isle Genealogy Society. She also enjoyed working with the Soroptimist group on Whidbey Island and loved being a part of the Red Hats Society. She was charitable to many other organizations such as the Heart Association, many animal services, Red Cross, and March of Dimes. Bonnie is survived by her son, Steve; daughter, Vicki; and son-in-law, Jim Clanton. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene L. Sears, son Gary Lee Sears, and daughter, Patricia Clanton. Private Graveside services will be held on Monday January 28, 2019 at the Langley Cemetery.
