Marita Ann Thody

Marita Ann (Whitson) Thody – 1930-2019 Marita Ann (Whitson) Thody, 88, of Edmonds, Washington, died peacefully in her sleep on March 7, 2019, at her new home in Bellingham, Washington. Born December 21, 1930, in Minot, North Dakota, to Herbert and Vilas Whitson. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Ron B. Thody and her eldest son John R. Thody. Marita was living in Whatcom County with her son Richard and family since July. She loved fast cars, the outdoors and power boating in the Puget Sound and Canadian South Islands with close friends from the Edmonds Yacht Club. Marita was never without a dog whether it be a Chesapeake, St. Bernard, German Shepherd, Doberman, Scottish Terrier, and in the end, her beloved Bichon Frise “Kirby” was with her. Survivors include her family, Richard & Coqui from Whatcom County, Grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica), Rob (Brittany), Austin, Andrea, Rachel and Marco; and great-grandchildren Cameron and Natalie. Private services and burial next to husband Ron will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park in Edmonds. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation and their dedicated personnel that provided exceptional end of life care for Marita and to all the others who have extended friendship and emotional support during her final days.
