Roy Edward Lulay
April 30th, 1932 - May 10th, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Edward Lulay on May 10, 2019. Roy was 87 years young. Roy was born on April 30, 1932 in Jordan, Oregon to Walter and Regina Lulay. Roy had 3 sisters: Cleone Scharbach (deceased), Joyce Wilson, Shirley Bailey, and 4 brothers: Gill Lulay, Adrian Lulay, Mel Lulay and Marvin Lulay (deceased). Roy served in the National Guard from 1953-1955. At a dance in 1953 he met the love of his life, Talea Ann Windschigl. They were married on August 20, 1955, and then moved to Seattle, WA, where they spent the rest of their lives together. Roy and Talea were married for 61 years until her death in 2016. Together they raised 5 children, Jan Buescher, Ken Lulay, Pam Lulay, Jeff Lulay (fiance Sally), and Jason Lulay (wife Sabrina). They also enjoyed a large family of 6 grandchildren: Derek Buescher, (wife Amanda), Chris Lulay, Dustin Peabody, Allison Lulay, Kelli Lulay, and Cody Lulay and 2 great grandchildren: Jax Buescher and Cru Buescher. Roy was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a self-employed furniture refinisher for over 35 years, working extremely hard to support a family of 7. His family is grateful for his sacrifices that allowed their mother to raise them right. He enjoyed traveling in his retirement, juicing grapefruit and oranges from his trees, and playing pool with friends. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and crabbing. One of his favorite activities was playing pinochle with family and friends. He loved his children and siblings. He cherished the times when his family was together. He was quick witted and loved to search for a “good deal”. Dad, sometimes your strong-willed personality was too tough, but that is also what made us what we are today. We love you. Rest in peace, Dad, you are now home with Mom, as you longed to be. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church 18033 15th Place NE, Shoreline, WA. Funeral Mass and services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon reception immediately following at St. Marks reception hall. Burial follows at 2:00 p.m. at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery located at 205 NE 205th Street, Shoreline, WA.
