William H Wilson, III
February 27th, 1947 - September 3rd, 2021
William H. Wilson, III, 74, husband of the late Clair Wilson, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Margaret Benassi and William H. Wilson, Jr on February 27, 1947. Mr. Wilson was the owner and operator of Wilson’s Pool Room and a lifelong member of St. Leo Catholic Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the USS Shangri-La during the Vietnam War. Mr. Wilson was known for his love of model trains and was a member of the Lionel Collectors Club of America. When not in the pool room or working on trains, Billy could usually be found working in his yard, drawing and painting, or walking his dogs. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, William H. (Julye) Wilson IV, Benjamin R. Wilson and Jaquelin P. Wilson, all of Versailles. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Ann Wilson and his brother, Mackie Wilson. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on September 11th, 2021 at St. Leo Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until time of service. Burial will follow in Versailles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for “Billy Wilson” may be made to the Lexington VA Healthcare Systems Volunteer Services, 1101 Veterans Dr., Lexington, KY 40502.
