Margaret Alice Berry
May 30th, 1925 - October 17th, 2019
Margaret Sohn was born as 4th child to John and Lula Sohn in Tonasket Washington May 30, 1925. She worked hard on the family farm until she and her sister Connie attended a 3-year nursing Program and graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked full time most of her life as a surgical nurse. Marge moved to Seattle and met her future husband Bob Berry at the Ballard Ice skating rink. He was showing off doing tricks, spins and jumps. They married in July 14, 1950. Their first child, Barbara was born in 1951, followed soon by 4 more children (5 children in 7 years.): Michael, Daniel, Steve, and Mary. She continued to work full time as a nurse taking call as well. Margaret is survived by her five children; grandchildren: Brian, Steve, Nathan, Bronson, Micayla, Joseph, Nick, Amanda, Kevin, Dan, Jenny and Curtis; and great grandchildren: Andy, Alex, Abigail, Emma and Eli. She was a devout Catholic and raised her children attending St. Alphonsus School and going to church every Sunday. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, swimming, dancing, drawing, skating, collecting owls, and anything with her family. She also loved Dolly Parton and John Wayne. She hated yellow jackets and was known to wield a broom to “Get them before they get you.” She was the most kind, unselfish, loving, hardworking woman; always putting her family before herself. Bob died at the age of 66 in 1990 and she continued to live in her house in Ballard until falling and fracturing her hip. Marge then moved to assisted living recovering from hip fracture and developing progressive vascular dementia. Her sweet disposition continued to the very end and she continued to say her Rosary every day. Margaret was the beloved matriarch of the family and an incredible role model to all, much like her mother Lula before her. She is now in heaven with God, the angels, her husband Bob, her sister, brothers, mom and dad and will be forever loved, remembered and missed. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation. The Memorial service will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery at 1 pm on Tuesday October 29 followed by reception at her son Dan Berry's house in Brier.
