John Austin (Jay) Simpson

John Austin (Jay) Simpson, 51, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. A native of Versailles, he was born on October 31, 1970 to John W. and Karen Simpson. Jay was a member of Millville Baptist Church. He worked for Parks Landscaping. Jay enjoyed serving the community on the Woodford County Fire Department and was a big supporter of animal rights. He loved farming and enjoyed a great steak. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Cody Simpson, and his mother Tara Burton, both of Lawrenceburg; his sister, Aletta (Wayne) Absher, Versailles; his nieces and nephews, Travis (Leslie) Absher, Sarah (Michael) Absher Haas, Melissa A. Absher, and Olivia Faith Lacy. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John M. Simpson and Henrietta Simpson; and maternal grandparents, James and Sally Fields. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill with Pastor Jeff Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Versailles Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Brad Henry, Aaron Atwood, Colton Tackett, Jorden Reynolds, Wyatt Hudgins, and Jon Hawkins. Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 2:00pm on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford County Humane Society.
