Gertrude Hunt Johnson, 94, widow of James K. “Buddy” Johnson, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024. She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on October 22, 1929. Mrs. Johnson was a devoted member of Midway Christian Church, where she was also the church secretary for 25 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Beth (Derry) Kiger, Versailles; grandchildren, Edwin (David) Rye, Lexington, Elizabeth (Michael) Woods, Versailles and Doug McDaniel, Midway; and great grandchildren, Ella, Quinn and Gentry Woods, and Sara and Seth Coomer. In addition to her husband of 69 years, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Jo McDaniel, and her granddaughter, Katie McDaniel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Midway Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Midway Christian Church.
