Betty L Hood

Gate City- Betty L. Hood peacefully left her family here to receive her grand reward on Saturday (October 3, 2015). Betty had resided in the Manville Community of Scott County her entire life. She was a very active member of Bethel Apostolic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Blanche "Granny" Estepp. Betty Hood is survived by her children, Sherry Christian and husband, Phil, Marquita Templeton and husband, O.C., Scottie Hood and wife, Sonya, Shelda Hensley and husband, Pat; eight grandchildren, Brad Christian and wife, Kim, Ben Christian and wife, Mandy, Josh Steadman and wife, Heather, Carlee Hobbs, Lyndsay Hood, Jake Hood, Candice Hensley, Cheyenne Hensley; four great grandchildren, Mason, Austin, Kyler, and Bentley; a sister, Dana Tipton and husband, Paul; two special cousins, Pat Robinson and Judy Broadwater. Heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center A-6 and W-3, Dr. Mahboob, along with Amedisys Hospice for the special care given to Betty Hood. A visitation will be held on Tuesday (October 6, 2015) at Scott County Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or friends may also call anytime at the Christian/Tipton Farm. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (October 6, 2015) at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Associate Pastor Phil Christian, and Pastor Garland Tipton, officiating. Greeting offered by Pastor Eddie Johnson. Music will be provided by the family. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday (October 7, 2015) at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession. Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the Hood family.
