Loretta Fair Dorton
August 1st, 1952 - October 1st, 2015
Loretta Fair Dorton, 63 of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, October 1, 2015 at her home following a brave a courageous battle with cancer. Loretta was saved and Jesus changed her life, filling her with his Holy Spirit. She loved Jesus with all her heart and soul, joining him in Heaven with all the saints. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, her roots being in Rose Hill, VA where she was raised by her grandmother. They moved to Annapolis, MD and then to Rogersville and came to Kingsport where she has resided for 35 years. She was owner of "Loretta's Cleaning Service". She has "told her story" how the Lord changed her and had lived it by her actions to all who knew her and met her. Loretta lived an honorable life and was that way in all her dealings. She was a member of Free Gospel Mission, Kingsport. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Patrick Mendez (age 24); her mother, Willa Early Shuler; her father, Reuben Jones; sister, Katherine Lynn Jones; her first husband, Sherman Fair. Survivors include her loving husband, Mark Dorton of the home; daughter, Michelle James and husband Jimmy; son, Ronald "Ronnie" James and wife Kristina; eight grandchildren, Alexandria Mendez, Michael James, Joshua James, Christopher James, Ava, Xavier, Jasmin and Gabriel, who were all special; a dear and loving sister, Tammy Cavin; two nephews, Billy Cavin, and Aaron Jones; niece, Amber Cavin; special friends, Diane and Roger Morris. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday October 5, 2015 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. with Pastor Vernon Hall officiating. Music will be provided by Melissa Hall. At her request Loretta was cremated. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Dorton family.
