Peter M. Wiley 87 of Venice, FL passed away September 3, 2008 at his home. Peter was born October 5, 1920 in Flushing, NY to the late Samuel R. and Mary (Brown) Wiley. Peter was a 1938 graduate of Regis HS in NYC, Fordham (BA), St. Louis University (seminary), Fordham University (Masters) and NYU Law School. Peter was married 59 years to Dorothea J. Wiley, recently deceased in 2007. They lived in Merrick, Long Island, NY, before moving to Venice in 1985. Peter was an attorney and a Marketing Executive with Empire Blue Cross – Blue Shield in New York City for 37 years until his retirement. He was the Choir director at Sacred Heart Church in Merrick for many years. He was a member of Epiphany Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Singers, past director of the Venice Gondoliers’ and Mid Island Chorus, and a past member of the Big Apple Chorus, NY, as a member of the Barbershop Quartet Society for over 53 years, and an active member of the Courtside Tennis Club. Surviving family members include his sons Peter, Jr. of Cape Coral, and Donald of Newbury Park, CA; daughters Kathleen Trolinger of Hollywood, MD, and Patricia Wiley of Venice; brother Samuel R. Wiley, Jr., of Manila, Philippines and grandchildren, Steven Trolinger of New York, New York and Kellen Wiley of Newbury Park, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Epiphany Cathedral on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM with inurnment to follow the service at the Epiphany Memorial Gardens. Mass Cards appreciated. Memorial donations can be made to HarmonyFoundation.org, the charity for the Barbershop organization.
