Norman Henry Helle, 88, of Venice, died on August 28th, 2008 He was born January 16, 1920 in St. Louis , Mo and came to the Sarasota County area in1971 from Ferguson, MO. An Army Air Corps veteran, he served in WWII in the 777th Unit in the South Pacific Theater. He retired from the Army Department of Defense in 1971 as a Supervisory Supply Analyst after 28 years of service. He was a member of NARFE Chapter 711, AARP, and BVA. He was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Venice since 1972. Surviving family members include his wife of 55 years, Betty Jane Mummert Helle; brother Rev. Wilbur W. Helle of Edwardville, IL; sister Gloria M. Sparks; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Grace United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from 10 – 11 AM with a funeral service to follow. Burial services will be private.
