Lalia S. Mills, age 100, of North Port, FL died on July 23, 2008. She was born in Lawrenceburg, KY on April 15, 1908, and moved to the North Port area from Erlanger, KY in 2004. Mrs. Mills attended Eastern State Teachers College in Richmond, KY and taught in a one room school house. She later worked as the Assistant Executive Director for the Greater Cincinnati Safety Council for 25 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Highland Hills Baptist Church in Ft. Thomas, KY and attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, FL. Surviving family members include her daughter Nancy Miller of North Port; son Robert Mills of Glendale, AZ; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Memorial gifts can be given to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238, or a charity of choice.
