Elizabeth “Betty” Hawkes, of North Port, Florida died July 15, 2008. Mrs. Hawkes was born in Waltham, MA to Bernard J. and Mary Joan (Hines) Mogan. Mrs. Hawkes was owner of Arlette Salon in Belmont, MA for 25 years retiring in 1991 and moved to North Port in 1992 coming from Boston, MA. After moving to North Port, Mrs. Hawkes was a North Port Police Department school crossing guard at Cranberry Elementary. She was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port. Survivors include her husband, Robert (Bob) Hawkes of North Port; son, Brian (Jill) Hawkes of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Karen (Randy) Skilling of Orlando, FL; sister, Lucy Mogan of Watham, MA; granddaughter, Kristina Skilling of Orlando, grandson, Alex Skilling of Orlando, FL, and sister Lucy Mogan of Waltham, MA. Also survived by many dear friends in the Boston Area. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to TideWell Hospice & Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at San Pedro Catholic Church, 14380 Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL 34287.
