Joseph G. Vallelunga (Joe), 89, of North Port, Florida passed away peacefully at home June 15, 2008. Joe served in the US Army/Air force during WWII as an airplane engine mechanic. He retired from National City Tube Works in McKeesport, Pa. with 42 years of service, upon retiring he and his wife moved to North Port, Florida in 1980. He was a member of the North Port Moose Lodge, lifetime member of the North Port VFW, member of the AMVETS, 40 year member of the American Legion in White Oak, PA and North Port, Fl. He enjoyed playing the guitar and electric keyboards and enjoyed singing with his daughter and son-in-law’s karaoke entertainment show. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen (Grdanski) Vallelunga, a brother, Michael Vallelunga of McKeesport, PA, son, James Vallelunga of Kapolei, Hawaii, daughter Annette (Rob) Moffat of North Port, Fl, daughter Chris Sewalish of Sarasota, Fl, 5 grandchildren, Kelly White, preceded in death by Jerome Bongyor, Joseph Bongyor, Robbie Moffat, and Amber Vallelunga, 2 step granddaughters, preceded in death by Stacy Sewalish, and Kristy Cope. 8 great grandchildren, 5 great-step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm at the Farley Funeral Home North Port Chapel. A visitation will also be held on June 18, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the funeral home with a Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00 am at San Pedro Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joseph’s name to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd, Sarasota, Fl 34238.
