John Blankenship, 72 of Venice, Florida passed away Sunday afternoon, May 18, 2008 at Pinebrook Rehab. and Nursing Center. John was born August 16, 1935 in South Point, Ohio, the son of Virgil and Dora (Walden) Blankenship. John and his wife Nellie moved to Venice 14 years ago. John graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelors degree in Science and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). John was a devoted Ohio State Buckeye’s follower. He later attended the University of Michigan and received a Masters of Science in Dentistry. John was a member of the United States Air Force, was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the Venice American Legion Lodge # 159. John is survived by his wife Nellie of 47 years of Venice, Florida and his mother Dora Walden of both Venice, Florida and Dayton, Ohio, sons, J.R. Blankenship and wife Linda and grandchildren, Shane, Chance, and Beau Blankenship all of Wolverine, Michigan, niece, Kathy Mckee and great niece and nephew Kristopher and Samantha all of Dayton, Ohio. John was preceded in death by his father Virgil and sister Joanne Driscoll.
