Winnifred Archer, 85, of North Port, Florida died Sunday May 11, 2008. Mrs. Archer was born on June 16, 1922 in England to John T. and Florence E. (Heath) Archer. She came to the U.S. via Ellis Island with brothers and sisters at the age of 16. Mrs. Archer lived in New York where she was a Private Nurse and owned Irene’s Dress Shop until she retired and moved to North Port, FL where she was a North Port Police crossing guard for many years. She was a member of the North Port Civic Association and the Women’s VFW. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Marchese of North Port; granddaughter, Nicole Marchese of North Port; sister, Elsie Stahl of Orange Park, FL; nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday May 15, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a service to follow at Farley Funeral Home North Port Chapel. Farley Funeral Home North Port Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
