Walter T. McVicker, Jr. age 91, of Venice, passed away on May 8, 2008. He was born on January 29, 1917 in Belington, West Virginia and came to Venice in 2001 from Grand Ledge, Michigan. He was a retiree from the State of Michigan where he worked as a City Planner for 33 years. Mac was a Marine Captain during World War II serving in the Pacific and China. He was a Methodist and a Mason. He was a life member of the V.F.W., a member of the American Legion and the Marine Corp League. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Haller McVicker, two daughters, Suzan McVicker, Martha York both of Wisconsin; son, J.P. McVicker of Georgia, sister, Mary Pat Everson of Virginia, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held 11:00AM on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Derrough officiating. Refreshments will follow the service at Punch Hall. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice & Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
