Florence A. Thorp, 80, of North Port, formerly of Sarasota, Florida and Brewster, N.Y. died on March 12, 2008. Services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 @ 11:00AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte. Additional services and burial will be held in Brewster, New York. Farley Funeral Home in North Port, Florida is handling the arrangements. Florence was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 24, 1927 and is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harry W. Thorp. She moved to North Port six years ago from Sarasota. She was a lifetime member and past grand matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Port Charlotte, Fl. Survivors include her children, Karen (Jim) Brown of North Port, Wendy (John) Foley and Glenn (Debbie) Thorp both of Sherman, Connecticut. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren; LeighAnne, Jennifer, Michelle, John, Ian, Katie, Nicole, Glenn and Madelyn, and six great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by al those lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 23456 Olean Blvd., Port Charlotte, Florida 33980.
