George R. White, age 86, of Venice, Florida, passed away on February 13, 2008. He was born on February 20, 1921 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He worked at Superior Brand Meats in Massillon, Ohio for 30 years and retired in 1986. He moved to Venice from Massillon in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 159 in Venice and was a veteran of the US Army and served during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Irene of Venice; daughters, Trudi Ruiz, Patricia White and Rosemary DaCosta all of Canton, Ohio; step-son, William Van Dyke of Rock Hill, South Carolina; step-daughters, Cheryl Van Dyke of Cleveland, Ohio, Vanne Van Dyke of Venice, Florida and a sister, Marie Lombardi of Canton, Ohio. He is also survived by his four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. There are no services planned at this time. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
