Joan H. McGrane, 76 of North Port, Florida formerly of Woodbridge, New Jersey passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 at TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care in Port Charlotte with her daughter Dawn by her side. Joan was born August 13, 1931 in New York City, New York to the late Bernard and Anna (Gaffney) Wilson. Joan moved to North Port 9 years ago from Woodbridge, New Jersey. She was a manager for the New York Telephone Company for 40 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and San Pedro Catholic Church. Joan was preceded by two sons; James and Robert McGrane. Joan leaves behind two daughters; Dawn Lama and husband Frank and Debbie McGrane of North Port, eight grandchildren; Jill, Brian, Shannon, Tracey, Jessica, Mallory, Nick and Joanie, five great grandchildren, 6 great nieces and nephews and good friend Marian. A memorial gathering will be held for Joan on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 4 to 7 pm at the Farley Funeral Home North Port Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm.
