Garlan Courtney Custer, age 38, of Arcadia, Florida, passed away on September 10, 2007. He was born on July 16, 1969 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 1988. He was a descendent of General Armstrong Custer. He was a supervisor with Calkins & Kenyon Construction in Punta Gorda for 8 years. He is survived by his parents, Owen & Wanda Custer of Windber, Pennsylvania; sister, Dorothy (Joseph) Jankowski of Port Charlotte, Florida; brother, Jeffrey L. (Kendra) Custer of Summerville, South Carolina; maternal grandparents, Opal & Paul Dayton; two nieces, Courtney Jankowski and Katie Custer and two nephews, Joseph Jankowski, III and Benjamin Custer. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Robert & Dora Custer. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 from 2:00-4:00PM with a service to follow at 4:00PM at Farley Funeral Home in North Port. Burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Garlan Courtney Custer Memorial Fund, c/o Dorothy Jankowski at any Regents Bank in Florida. Farley Funeral Home in North Port, Florida is handling the arrangements.
