Karin A. M. Biggs-Amonett was born in the former East Berlin, Germany on September 18, 1942. She was raised in Heidelberg and served an apprenticeship in the restaurant business. She came to the United States on February 28, 1965. She was previously married to a European Chef and they owned and operated a restaurant in Calvert County, Maryland in the Solomons’ Island area. She entered the Real Estate business in Prince George’s County, Maryland and was licensed as an agent in 1968. She sold homes and also made investments. In 1995, she married William B. Amonett and they moved from Prince George’s County Maryland to Venice, Florida in 1996. Soon after arriving in Venice, Florida, she purchased a small business and sold oil paintings, prints and frames at the Dome Flea Market on State Rt. #776. Her business prospered and she became very well known. Those that worked with her, as well as her neighbors, loved her and always enjoyed her company. She has one son, a grandson, a sister, a brother and a cousin. Her brother, sister and cousin still reside in Germany. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 2:00 pm at Venice Memorial Gardens on Center Road in Venice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Karin’s name to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
