Albert (Al) B. Balliet, 76, Venice, FL, formerly of Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan, died August 7, 2007. He was born August 4, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, and resided in Sarasota County since 1992. Al was a veteran of the Korean War, the owner/operator of Al Balliet Landscaping, Inc., Birmingham and Troy, MI, for 26 years and a real estate broker. He was a member of Epiphany Cathedral and a former member of Guardian Angels, Clawson, MI. He was a member of the Elks of Englewood, FL, Metro Woodcarvers in Michigan and the American Legion of Venice. He enjoyed golf, music, ballroom dancing, woodcarving and bridge. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Florence (Flo); loving father of Patti A. Balliet-Vest of Glen Rock, NJ, and Dawn E. Balliet of Bradenton, FL; proud grandfather of Michael D. Vest and Daniel A. Vest both of Glen Rock, NJ. His son, Michael B. Balliet, preceded him in death in 1977. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 11th at the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care of Venice, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238 or to the Salvation Army, PO Box 69, Venice, FL 34284.
