April 29th, 1935 - February 21st, 2007
Melvin E. Cromwell, 71, of Nokomis, FL, passed away on February 21, 2007. Melvin was born on April 29, 1935 in Swanville, MN to the late Fred and Regina Cromwell. He was formerly a resident of Brooklyn Park, MN before moving to Nokomis 20 years ago. Melvin served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Marine Corps Engineers, American Legion and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Osprey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol; son Timothy of Nokomis; daughter Suzanne Martel and husband John of Vinton, VA; brother Kenneth of Cambridge, MN; two sisters, Leona Stacy of Minneapolis and Carolyn Burndt of Zimmerman, MN; four grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, Kayla and John Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Sunday, February 25th at the Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 AM the following day at the funeral home with burial to follow at the Osprey Community Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Melvin’s honor to the Victory Baptist Church Building Fund, 241 Burney Rd. Osprey FL 34229.
