Clara Belle Lungwitz passed away in Venice on July 5th, she was 93 years old. Born in Bonnie, IL on November 17, 1912; she came to Venice from Evansville, IL in 2000. She had taught in rural schools of Illinois for 6 years. She was a 50 year member of Jackson County Homemakers Association, a District Director of Illinois Homemaker Extension Federation, Beta Sigma Phi, P.E.O., Co-leader of AARP Widow Persons Service and was active in Meals on Wheels. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Carbondale, IL. Her husband, Leonard H. Lungwitz preceded her in death. They had owned a jewelry store in Carbondale for 22 years. Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Skaggs of Venice and Vicki Spellman of Ambler, PA; four grandchildren, Claire Smith of Venice, Laura Litzer of Naperville, IL, Susannah Spellman of Washington D.C. and Jennifer Spellman of Owings Mills, MD; sister Imogene Skinner of Palmetto, FL; five great-grandchildren. Internment will be in Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238.
