Angelo M. Panciera
June 29th, 1914 - April 7th, 2006
Angelo M. Panciera, 91, died on April 7, 2006. He was born on June 29, 1914 in Westerly, RI and moved to North Port, FL, shortly after retiring from the US Naval Air station in Quonset Point, RI, after 25 years of service. Angelo was preceded in death by his wife Florence (Leon) Panciera, parents, Amalia (Molin) and Santo Panciera, Sr., Sister Inez and brothers Guido, Marcello and James. He is survived by a brother Santo, Jr. of Pawcatuck, CT; sisters Edith Bigliere of New Haven, CT, Esther Sarafian of Warrick, RI, Mary Capezzano, Virginia Champlin and Viola Bifulco all of Westerly, RI; special friend, Josephine Busch of North Port, FL. Angelo served two one year terms in the Civilian Conservation Corps taking part in such projects as the “Swamp Revitalization”. A one year term in the U.S. Coast Guard and four years in the U.S. Army attached to Battery A 633rd Field Artillery serving in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He had over 550 combat days and was honorably discharged on June 4, 1945. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, North Port Yacht Club and Westerly Lodge 10 FOPA. An avid traveler, Angelo sailed on over 60 cruises around the Islands, Mexico and South America. He was an established golfer playing to a 3 handicap and was past club champion at the Stonington Golf and Manor Club, Stonington, CT. He enjoyed ice skating, roller skating, bowling and most of all dancing. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 11:00 AM at San Pedro Catholic Church, North Port, FL. Inurnment to follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Memorial Donations may be made in his name to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238. Or to the Charity of your choice. Farley Funeral Home and Crematory, North Port Chapel is handling arrangements.
