John Allison Hullhorst

John Allison Hullhorst returned to his maker April 27, 2022. Born in Toledo, Ohio on February 2, 1938. John married Alice Julia Ponstingle of Bay Point, Ohio in 1964 shortly after serving his country proudly in the United States Navy. The newlyweds moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where they lived and worked for over forty-five years. Alice, a college professor and coach, preceded John in death in 2013. John was a tool and die maker who eventually assumed a managerial position at Air Motive until he had a massive stroke in 1986. John eventually recovered and then went to work at Hammond Roto-Finish in 1995. John later retired in 2005. Even though John and Alice had no children they loved animals and were very generous with their time and money for the local school systems and the humane society in Kalamazoo. John is survived by his younger brother Jim Hullhorst of Nokomis, FL. A Celebration of Life will be held in John's honor at the Colt Center in the Comstock High School on June 20th at 2:00 pm. The school is located at 2107 North 26th Street in Kalamazoo Michigan. John will be laid to rest at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio along side his beloved wife Alice.
