Stephen Cushman Spear, age 74, of Venice, Florida passed away on June 12, 2022. He was born in Boston in 1947. Steve lived in Massachusetts until moving to Venice permanently in 2018. He was the son of Arthur and Erma (Burbank) Spear who both preceded him in death. Steve is survived by his loving, caring and devoted wife, Donna (Boyle) for 53 years; brother to Susan Spear Walker and her husband, David; brother-in-law to Tom and Paul Boyle; uncle, to Jon Walker and wife, Annie and Christine Walker and husband, Elias Perez Escoda and great uncle to Jack, Grant, Whitman, Luke, Kate, and Penelope. He was a loyal and devoted friend to many. Long time barber and owner of Pete’s Barber Shop in Hingham, MA. His shop was a place of social gathering for many local Hinghamites. Steve loved playing golf, reading, watching old movies, enjoying the golf channel and car racing shows. Steve was so proud of his Hole in One achievement at the Waterford Golf Club, Venice, FL. Steve was a man of great courage and strength as he faced many physical challenges from birth. A memorial service will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 265 Nokomis Avenue S. in Venice, Florida on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 11:00AM. A private interment will be held at Venice Memorial Gardens at a later date and a Celebration of Life for Steve in Massachusetts will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 220 Wexford Blvd., Venice, Florida 34293. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
