James “Jim” Robert Hazelton, 80 of Venice, Florida formerly of Darien, Illinois passed away July 7, 2022. Jim was born October 28, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late John and Florence Hazelton. He was a Diesel Locomotive Designer, EMD for 37 years until his retirement in 1998, when he began Hazelton Consulting. He is a member and treasurer for both Our Savior Lutheran Church and the Bird Bay Laurel Community and an AARP Tax Aide. James is survived by his wife Mae of 57 years and brother John both of Venice, Florida, daughter Laura (Aaron) of Henderson, Nevada, son Jim of Louisville, Kentucky (5 grandchildren - Eric, Kyle, Connor, Olivia, Elianna). Jim was preceded in death by his brother Charles. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, 2:00pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 2705 North Tamami Trail, Venice, Florida 34275. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James’s name to Our Savior Lutheran Church or The Salvation Army.
