Camilla “Camille” Ramona Smoot, age 63, of Venice, FL, passed away on August 9, 2023. She was born in Baltimore, MD to Joseph and Adele Smoot on November 27, 1959 and came to Venice in 2015 from Baltimore, MD. Camille worked as a secretary at Guardian Services before retiring. Camille loved all forms of wildlife and would take in stray animals. She loved to travel, especially on cruises and to Italy to visit her family. She enjoyed playing pinochle regularly with her friends and was a member of the Institute of Notre Dame Alumnae Association, the South Venice Civic Association Book Club, and the South Venice Garden Club. Camille also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Camille had a contagious smile and an open kind heart to everyone. Her charismatic personality blessed every person she met and made it impossible not to like her. Surviving family members include her sister, Cassandra Mohr of Venice, FL; brothers Eugenio Smoot of Sarasota, FL, and Mario Smoot and Walter Smoot, both of Baltimore, MD; nieces and nephews Christopher Mohr of Baltimore, MD, Katherine Mohr of Miami, FL, Jennifer Smoot of Baltimore, MD, Tina Smoot of Stuttgart, Germany, Christopher Smoot of Baltimore, MD, Matthew Smoot of Baltimore, MD, Joseph Smoot of Baltimore, MD, Walter Smoot of Baltimore, MD, and Joseph Smoot of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Adele Smoot, and a niece, Christine Smoot. Flower gifts for the family should be sent to 661 Dolphin Rd, Venice, FL 34293. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Epiphany Cathedral on Saturday, September 2, at 11 am. A small service will also be held in Maryland at a later date.
